In 2014, JBKnowledge conducted the third annual construction technology survey and received over 1000 responses. The resulting Construction Technology Report gives construction industry professionals access to to learn more about technology adoption and usage within the construction industry based on the survey.
One section of the survey focused on mobile solutions for construction and survey participants were asked what construction mobile apps they are currently using. The top 20 responses are listed below in alphabetical order.

BIM 360 Field™
BIM 360 Field, an Autodesk product, is a construction field management software for 2D and 3D environments that combines mobile technologies at the construction site with cloud-based collaboration and reporting, which improves quality, safety, and commissioning for those in the field.
BIM 360 Glue®
BIM 360 Glue, an Autodesk product, is a cloud-based BIM management and collaboration product that connects your entire project team in order to integrate BIM project workflows from pre-construction through completion
BIMx™
BIMx, a Graphisoft product, gives users access to integrated 2D and 3D building models in order to navigate building projects. With BIMx, users are able to save time and manpower by virtually walk through and make measurements in the 3D model.
BlueBeam®
Bluebeam allows users to markup and manipulate documents and gives them access to edit, develop and collaborate on PDFs from anywhere at any time, enabling comprehensive project communication.
Construction Master 5
Construction Master 5, a Calculated Industries product, is an easy-to-use construction calculator app that gives users, such as carpenters and builders, ability to reduce errors on the job site and save time and money.
DeWALT Mobile Pro™
DeWALT Mobile Pro is a free construction calculator that includes five additional common calculations in addition to access to hundreds of add-on calculations for purchase to make working on the job site easier and more time efficient.
HCSS
HCSS provides a mobile platform with construction apps ranging from estimating to field entry to job safety, giving users the ability to stay more efficient and productive, no matter where they are.
iAuditor
iAuditor, a SafetyCulture product, gives users the ability to build checklists, conduct inspections, and file exportable reports for free, cutting inspection times in half.
MagicPlan
MagicPlan, developed by Sensopia, is a floorplanner mobile app that enables users to create floorplans off of any mobile device with the ability to edit, decorate and develop 3D views and exports.
Onsite Planroom™
Onsite Planroom, a product of UDA Technologies gives users the ability to view, share, comment, and edit their plans from virtually any mobile device, enabling them to change orders, specification, purchases, or other proposals conveniently.
PlanGrid
PlanGrid is a fully integrated planning information app that handles blueprints from beginning to end. With Plangrid, users have the ability to quickly view and share plans and track issues from anywhere while staying safe and secure.
Procore™
Procore’s app mobilizes project management, allowing users to manage drawings in real time, work offline, and improve transparency and accountability all from one mobile platform.
Prolog Mobile
Prolog, a Trimble product, allows for viewing and updating project data activities in real time on any mobile device while the app sends field data back to the office creating a synchronized system of project data.
Sage Timberline
Sage gives users multiple apps to assist in the construction and real estate industry, such as Sage Estimating, Sage 100 Contractor, Sage 300 Construction and Real Estate, and Sage Construction Anywhere. Users can speed up the estimating process, access critical contractor data, manage projects, and access it in one integrated mobile platform.
SmartBidNet®
Developed by JBKnowledge, this app is available to users of the SmartBidNet construction bid software, giving general contractors the ability to easily manage subs, bid invitations, and project documents from the SmartBidNet system on the go from any Android or iOS mobile device.
SmartReality®
SmartReality, a JBKnowledge product, is an augmented reality mobile app for iOS and Android that utilizes a mobile device’s camera pointed at a printed construction plan, to overlay an interactive BIM model on screen transforming 2D plans into 3D visualizations.
TurboViewer
A IMSI/Design, LLC product, TurboViewer is a free mobile app for viewing 2D and 3D drawings that allows users to easily view, markup, and share files.
Vela Systems Mobile®
Vela Mobile enables construction team members to use Vela Field Management on the job site from an iPad – with or without internet. The app includes a document library, checklists, safety and commissioning data, creation/sign off for tracking issues while in the field to easily manage field tasks.
