Well, it is true that FaceApp is having its moments in the limelight and it has taken the world by storm. But really, what’s so special about this app? The truth is, it is one of the best aging apps one can download. This old-age face app has been around since 2017, but it blew up again because of the FaceApp Challenge. Celebrities started posting filtered and aged photos of themselves, giving more hype to this photo-editing app. While there are a lot of age progression tools and apps like FaceApp available, nothing comes close to it in terms of the buzz it created. The next thing we know is the whole internet community, as well as some famous celebrities, has gone shookt over a hot tea spilled by one of its developers named Joshua Nozzi. He said that FaceApp could access all the user’s photos stored on their phone.

Yet, a cybersecurity expert from France under the pseudonym Elliot Alderson refuted Nozzi’s claim. According to Alderson, only uploaded photos of the users are stored in FaceApp’s cloud. And if you are wondering where the photos are stored, the cloud is based in the US. Since this app is made in Russia, it is important enough to stress out that the app’s servers are based on Amazon US. Why? Because speculation saying photos are to be used in fraudulent activities is circulating in social media, especially on Twitter. Ultimately, Forbes contacted the Russian app’s developer Yaroslav Goncharov and made it clear that it is safe for public consumption. Nevertheless, photo editing apps and filters like a skinny filter are always cool to explore and express one’s creativity.
