How to watch F1 in the UK | in US, Canada and elsewhere | abroad using a VPN
Italian Grand Prix pole sitter Charles Leclerc couldn’t find the pace to fend off the in-form man of the moment Max Verstappen as he rolled over the finish line for his fifth consecutive victory in Monza last weekend.
Having started seventh on the grid, Verstappen was already up into the podium positions by lap 4 and would go to P2 just one lap later. When a Virtual Safety Car was brought in following Sebastian Vettel’s DNF during lap 12, the Dutchman gained the lead as Leclerc pitted to change from softs to mediums. Team tactics began to take charge here, as Red Bull and Versappen pitted for mediums on lap 26 and slotted back into second before Ferrari and Leclerc pitted once again to get fresh softs on lap 33 to switch the order once more. Still, Verstappen seemed comfortable, using with his car’s raw pace to extend his lead to 20-seconds until Daniel Ricciardo’s wrecked McLaren brought in another safety car on lap 48. At any restart, the chasing pack’s softer, fresher tyres would have an advantage, but it wasn’t to be as 2021’s champion saw the chequered flag from the comfortable position behind the safety car.
With that his eleventh win of the season, Verstappen’s lead in the Driver’s Championship is up to 116 points over Leclerc in second. That means the season could be wrapped up in Singapore at the very next Grand Prix if the Dutchman manages to outscore Leclerc by 22 points, Perez by 12 and Russell by six. While such a wide margin of victory over all three drivers might seem a tad fanciful, even for a dominant Verstappen, you never know what’s round the corner in F1.

How to watch F1 2022 in the UK: Sky Sports and Sky Sports F1
Until at least 2024, Sky are the exclusive rights holders for live F1 coverage in the UK. That means the only way to watch F1 races in 2022 is to get Sky Sports.
There are two ways to watch F1 on Sky Sports. You can either add the dedicated Sky Sports F1 channel to your TV package, or you can add the Complete Sky Sports package to your TV. We’ll explain the difference between both, but note that both options require you to have a basic Sky Signature package first. Sky Signature is the new name for Sky’s Basic TV package. This costs £26/mth and includes the best of Sky TV and Netflix on compatible devices. The minimum term contract for Sky Signature is 18 months and new customers will have a one-time setup fee.
Once you have Sky Signature, you can add Sky Sports F1 to your TV. Sky Sports F1 is the official broadcaster of every F1 race of the 2022 season. You can watch every practice, qualifying session and race live in HD for £25/mth on a rolling 31-day contract.
However, if you’re a fan of sports in general, you’re better off choosing the Sky Sports package, which also costs £25/mth. Not only does this include the Sky Sports F1 channel as default, but you’ll get eight Sky Sports channels all in HD, meaning you’ll be able to watch marquee matches from the Premier League, EFL, Scottish Premiership, golf majors, NFL, NBA, live international cricket, franchise cricket tournaments like the IPL, and more.
