These days, there are loads of apps that say you can earn cash prizes for playing popular games on your phone.

Solitaire is one of the most prime examples, and there’s a variety of apps out there that lets you earn cash and gift cards for winning Solitaire tournaments.

Solitaire Cube, an app on the Skillz platform, is one of the most popular pay-to-play gaming apps in this category. It lets you play against other players in head-to-head matches to win cash and other exiciting prizes.

But is Solitaire Cube legit? And can you actually win money with this app?

My Solitaire Cube review is sharing my experiences with this app, how it all works, and what you should expect.

What Is Solitaire Cube?

Solitaire Cube is a modern version of the classic card game Solitaire. It lets you play in one versus one matches against players from around the world to see who can get the highest score in a five minute game of Solitaire.

Winners can walk away with cash prizes and tickets that are redeemable for a wide range of other prizes from Skillz.

The Solitaire Cube app is available on Android and iOS. Overall, it’s very similar to other popular games like Solitaire Cash, which uses the same tournament-style model to award cash prizes.

Solitaire Cube is owned by Tether Studios which has other popular apps that include Cube Cube, Backgammon Blitz, and Texas Solitaire. The game is powered by the eSports platform Skillz, which handles the cash prize and rewards.

You can play games on Solitaire Cube for free if you just want a friendly-yet-competitive way to practice your Solitaire skills.

However, if you want a chance at cash prizes, you usually need to buy-in to paid tournaments, and this is where you risk losing your money.

But if you can win your matches and tournaments, there’s the potential to make some quick money by using Solitaire Cube.

How Does Solitaire Cube Work?

I downloaded Solitaire Cube and played a couple of rounds to test out if this app was legit or not. And the entire platform is actually quite straightforward.

Here’s a breakdown of how this app works and what the prizes are.

1. Sign Up & Create An Account

You can download Solitaire Cube for free on your Apple or Android device. Once you open the app, there’s a short tutorial and you get to enter your username and a profile picture if you want to.

You’re also creating an account with Skillz since this is the platform that hosts games like Solitaire Cube, Blackout Bingo, and other gaming reward apps.

After setting up your free account, you will be shown the features of the game and have the opportunity to play some practice rounds.

All in all, it took me about a minute to download and sign up for Solitaire Cube.

2. Play Practice Games

There are two ways to play in Solitaire Cube: The Practice League and the Pro League. You can play Practice League games for free to hone your skills and slowly earn tickets and Z Coins, the app’s virtual currency.

When you first start out, Solitaire Cube automatically matches you against another player in a friendly practice game so you learn how the app works.

After that, you can keep playing games to win more Z Coins and Ticketz, which you can eventually redeem for real life prizes.

The app lets you keep playing practice games, and after each five minute round, you find out if your score is higher than the player you faced off against and if you’re victorious.

There’s no penalty for losing practice games, and there’s not really any reward either other than bragging rights and a few Z coins and Ticketz.

3. Play Pro League Games

The second type of game on Solitaire Cube are Pro League games. These games require buying-in with real cash and competing against other players for the chance to win even more money.

Entry fees vary depending on the tournament and game type, but you’re looking at around $0.65 to a couple of dollars. Usually, you win around double your money if you’re able to come out of a tournament in a high standing.

For example, in my Solitaire Cube app, there’s a $0.25 buy-in for an “Apprentice” first cash tournament that pays winners $0.42 plus 42 Ticketz. There’s also a $3 buy-in for Solitaire Court, a multi-stage tournament that pays winning players $8 plus 225 Ticketz.

In any case, it’s immediately clear that you have to deposit real cash if you want a chance of making any money with Solitaire Cube.

The app prompts you with flashy cash bonuses for making your first cash deposit to play. And again, you can’t really make money with Solitaire Cube unless you risk your own money in these tournaments.

Of course, you could win and turn this app into a bit of a side hustle, but you’re always risking your money in paid tournaments.

4. Cash Out

If you win a Pro League game on Solitaire Cube, you get back your buy-in amount plus whatever cash prize the tournament pays out. You can get paid with PayPal cash or back to your credit card if that’s how you funded your account.

U.S. residents can also get paid via check, and Skillz asks that you allow several weeks for withdrawals.

This is for the cash you can potentially win. But you can also redeem your Ticktez for various Skillz rewards.

However, you need hundreds of thousands or even millions of Ticketz to redeem most prizes. For example, a $50 gift card to companies like Amazon or Target takes 1 million Ticketz!

This takes an incredibly long time to reach, and you can only earn this amount of Ticketz if you consistently wage money entering paid games.

Is Solitaire Cube Legit?

I don’t think Solitaire Cube is legit because it makes it seem very easy to earn cash prizes for playing games. In reality, you have to wager and risk real money to try and win cash prizes. And many of the other prizes you earn with Ticketz take an unrealistic amount of Ticketz to redeem.

The app does have a 4.6 star on the Apple Store and a 4.5 rating with 7100+ reviews on Google Play. However, I think the app is pretty misleading overall, and this is the problem most Skillz games suffer from.

And my main problem with the app is that you have no way of knowing if tournaments are rigged or not.

Solitaire Cube says you’re playing against human players who are of a similar skill level. But how on earth can anyone verify this? You could be playing against computers for all you know.

And, Solitaire has some luck, so what if your hand is just brutal and you can’t even win from the get-go?

This is the same reason I dislike apps like Bubble Cash, Bingo Clash, and Solitaire Cube; you can’t know if it’s a scam or not, and the odds might be stacked against you.

I tested out Solitaire Cube for about an hour to learn how the app works and to test the games. But it’s also useful to hear from other users for a more complete opinion.

As you can see, users recognize that the app has risks and you can lose your money. It’s also very difficult to keep earning cash since you get matched with better players, or maybe bots.

One user even deposited $600 and walked away with $60, so they lost $540 playing paid games.

I think these warnings mean you should skip playing Solitaire Cube, but the choice is ultimately up to you.

How Much Money Can You Make With Solitaire Cube?

The amount you can make with Solitaire Cube depends on how much you are comfortable putting at risk. You might pay $1 for a chance to win a $6 prize. You might pay $120 for a chance to win a $200 prize. But the bottom line is that you have to risk money for the chance to win money.

Also keep in mind the game developer keeps a portion of the prize pool, so that reduces potential winnings even more.

There are so many other ways to play games for money or online money-making ideas you can try as well that don’t risk losing your cash.

Does Solitaire Cube Actually Pay?

Are you wondering, Does Solitaire Cube really pay? Yes it does. You can earn real cash, however earnings may not be large, even for the Pro League games you have to pay to play.

How do you withdraw your money on Solitaire Cube? Well, according to the folks at Skillz, you can take out your money at any time. To do so, you will want to tap “Withdraw” on the main menu.

Any withdrawals for the amount of money you’ve deposited will be returned using the same method you used to put money into your account. If you use PayPal, money will be returned via PayPal.

If you paid via credit card, it will be returned to your credit card. If you have winnings that exceed the amount you deposited, the amount will be sent via check for U.S. residents and via PayPal for players from other countries.

Skills asks that their players allow up to 4-6 weeks for withdrawals. While your withdrawal is pending, you may not be able to deposit additional funds. There is also a $1.50 fee for withdrawals under $10. Bonus cash cannot be withdrawn. It is forfeited when you make a withdrawal.

Better Alternatives To Try

In my opinion, Solitaire Cube isn’t worth using because you have to risk money to make money. And it’s impossible to know if games are rigged or not.

Thankfully, there are plenty of other get-paid-to apps and websites you can use to earn rewards instead like:

Final Thoughts

I’ve been checking out several different apps that pay lately and I have to admit, many of these apps, including Solitaire Cube, are misleading. While they are usually promoted as a GPT app where you can earn money, they’re actually a gambling app in reality.

I don’t think Solitaire Cube is legit or worth using whatsoever. There are so many other ways to make extra cash, ranging from using paid gaming apps to work-from-phone jobs. And most side hustles don’t require depositing and risking money to potentially win rewards.

If you love Solitaire and are alright with risking money, you can try out Solitaire Cube. And, of course, you can always play the free games.

However, there’s no way to tell if you’re playing against real players or bots, and I don’t think this is a very genuine money-making app.
