There’s an app to tell you what to wear – based on the weather and your wardrobe

ClosetSpace is a new app that manages all of the items in your wardrobe and gives you recommendations on what you should wear based on the weather outside.

It’s not exactly painless, however – you have to add every item of clothing you own to your ‘profile’ – including accessories.

Items you add can be sorted and tagged with brand, fabric, size, colour, how much you paid for it(!) and where you bought it. (Thanks, Penneys!) They can also be tagged with the different occasions each piece might be suitable for – e.g. ‘wedding’, ‘work’, ‘night out’.

You can even schedule outfits with a calendar that then syncs with your Google calendar – meaning you never have to think about what to wear for yourself ever again.

The app is currently more focused towards women, with plans afoot to bring more male users onboard.

Rohan Deuskar, CEO of ClosetSpace’s parent company Stylitics, told Mashable that the “focus on female users is clear”.

“We know that women… spend more time planning what to wear”.

“We will be expanding our focus to bring in more male users as we continue to grow”.

One major flaw we can spot in the app, however, is that there is no “in the wash” tag for pieces sitting in your laundry basket. Oh – and they sell the data they collect.

“We anonymize and aggregate trend data at a high level to include in reports we sell to retailers,” says Deuskar.

“We provide high-level color trend data to beauty brands [and] changing trends in bottoms styles for jeans manufacturers … No personally identifying information is shared, as we respect the privacy of our users”.

The app is currently one of the highest rated fashion-orientated smartphone apps on the market.
