UNC Football at Appalachian State: How to Watch, Cord-Cutting Options and Kickoff Time – Chapelboro.com

The UNC football team will make its first-ever trip to Boone this weekend, as the Tar Heels will take on Appalachian State. The game is the Mountaineers’ season opener, while UNC played last week during Week Zero against Florida A&M. It’s also the second of a three-game series between the two programs. Appalachian State won the first game of the series in 2019, defeating the Tar Heels 34-31 in Kenan Stadium. The Mountaineers are also expecting the biggest crowd in school history.

If you aren’t one of the lucky ones to scoop up a ticket to Kidd Brewer Stadium, here’s how to follow along at home:

Broadcast Schedule

Those hoping to listen on the radio with Jones Angell on the call can do so at 97.9 FM and 1360 AM, or by streaming the radio broadcast on Chapelboro.com.

97.9 The Hill’s radio coverage of the game will begin at 9 a.m. with Inside Carolina Live.

At 11 a.m., the broadcast will shift over to Jones Angell and the Tar Heel Sports Network for their pregame coverage until kickoff. They will also carry postgame coverage for approximately 90 minutes after the conclusion of the game.

Per college football broadcast restrictions, you can access the stream (computer, tablet or phone) through Chapelboro.com, TuneIN or most streaming apps, but you must be within 75 miles of Chapel Hill and have your location services for your device turned on.  This 75-mile rule applies only to Tar Heel Sports Network pre-game, game, and post-game broadcasts (one hour before kickoff until one and a half hours after the game ends).

TV Schedule

Television coverage of the game begins at 12 p.m. The game will be broadcast on ESPNU. As of today, Spectrum, AT&T, Xfinity, Dish and DirecTV all carry ESPN and ESPNU.

What if I don’t have cable?

A live stream will be available on ESPN’s digital platforms.

Additionally, several cord-cutting options carry ESPN and ESPNU.

YouTube TV prices at $65/month and carries all of ESPN’s channels (ESPN, ESPN2, ESPNU, etc.).

Hulu TV also goes for $70/month and includes all ESPN channels, but does not carry MLB Network, NBA TV or NFL Red Zone.

Sling TV is the cheapest at $35/month for the Orange package. Make sure to avoid Sling Blue, as that package does not carry ESPN.
